Phil Collins shares health update after seven months in intensive care: ‘People came to say goodbye’

Phil Collins has given a rare and candid update on his health, revealing that he spent seven months in intensive care and that at one point, his condition was so dire that loved ones were called to his bedside to say their final goodbyes. The 75-year-old Genesis frontman shared the details in a recent interview, describing the harrowing experience in stark terms.

"My organs were just seizing up," Collins said. He explained that the prolonged hospital stay took a severe toll on his body, leaving him physically weakened and facing a long road to recovery. The musician, who has long struggled with health issues including nerve damage and a fractured vertebra, said this latest ordeal was by far the most serious. He recalled the moment when doctors told his family to prepare for the worst, and how visitors came to see him one last time.

Despite the grim prognosis, Collins pulled through. He credited the medical team and his own stubbornness for his survival. Now back at home, he is focused on rehabilitation and spending time with his family. While he acknowledged that his performing days are likely over, he expressed gratitude for simply being alive. "I am not going to be able to do what I used to do," he admitted, "but I am here, and that is what matters." The singer's resilience has been a source of comfort to fans worldwide who have followed his career for over five decades.
