Supporting health and wellbeing this fall

Supporting health and wellbeing this fall

The Health and Wellbeing team is glad to see everyone back on campus for the new term. They have put together a short list of practical steps to help you look after yourself and others as the weather turns cooler and the days get shorter.

One of the simplest things you can do is keep a steady routine. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even on weekends. Sleep is the foundation for mood, focus, and energy. Another key piece is eating regular meals, even if they are small. A thermos of soup or a piece of fruit between classes can make a real difference.

Movement also matters, but it does not have to mean a full workout. A ten minute walk between buildings or a short stretch in your room counts. Getting daylight early in the morning, even for a few minutes, helps set your internal clock and can lift your spirits.

The team also reminds everyone that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. If you are feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or just off, reach out to a friend, a resident advisor, or a counselor. There are resources on campus that are free and confidential.

Finally, be kind to yourself. This time of year can be busy and stressful. You do not have to do everything perfectly. Small, consistent actions add up. The Health and Wellbeing team wishes you a healthy and balanced fall term.
