SGMC Health Honors Shalese Aycock with Excellence in Care Advanced Practice Provider Award

SGMC Health has awarded Shalese Aycock, a nurse practitioner at SGMC Urology, the inaugural Excellence in Care Advanced Practice Provider Award. The honor comes from the SGMC Health Provider Wellness Committee, which created the award to spotlight the work of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other advanced practice clinicians across the health system.

Aycock was chosen for her consistent dedication to patient care, her collaborative approach with colleagues, and the positive feedback she has received from both patients and staff. The committee noted that she goes beyond the expected in her daily practice, showing both clinical skill and genuine compassion.

In her role at SGMC Urology, Aycock works with patients dealing with a range of urological conditions. Those who nominated her pointed to her ability to explain complex treatment plans clearly, her patience with anxious patients, and her willingness to step in when the team needs extra support.

The Provider Wellness Committee launched the award to encourage a culture of recognition among medical staff. Committee members said they wanted to highlight the vital role advanced practice providers play in delivering quality care, especially as their responsibilities continue to expand.

Aycock received the award during a recent ceremony attended by hospital leadership and fellow providers. She said she was honored and shared the recognition with her entire urology team, noting that good care is always a group effort.

SGMC Health plans to present the award on a regular basis going forward, with nominations open to all advanced practice providers within the organization.
