A health policy analyst says the move comes amid a broader trend of insurer exits as several federal policy changes fuel declining enrollment. Mending, one of the few remaining carriers offering Affordable Care Act plans in Oklahoma, announced it will not renew its individual market policies after this year. The decision leaves thousands of Oklahomans scrambling for coverage options in a state already known for limited competition.

The company cited financial losses and an unstable regulatory environment as key reasons for the pullout. Industry experts point to the expiration of enhanced premium subsidies and stricter federal oversight as factors squeezing smaller insurers.
