Mobile Health Units continue service to Valley communities

The Mobile Health Unit program is back on the road for the fall 2026 semester, bringing free healthcare services to residents throughout the San Joaquin Valley. The initiative, coordinated by the School of Nursing, provides nursing students with hands-on clinical experience while addressing gaps in care for underserved populations.

Services offered at the mobile units include diabetes and blood pressure screenings, general health and wellness assessments, and referrals to local providers. Flu vaccinations are also available at most stops on the schedule. The program aims to reach residents who may face barriers to accessing traditional clinics, including those in rural areas or without reliable transportation.

Nursing students staff the units under faculty supervision, gaining practical experience in community health settings. For many participants, the program represents a first point of contact with the healthcare system. Organizers say the dual focus on education and service remains central to the mission.

The mobile units will visit multiple locations in the coming months. Residents are encouraged to check the schedule and take advantage of the no-cost services. No appointment is required at most sites.
