Indonesia has put forward its Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, as a candidate for the position of Director-General of the World Health Organization. The announcement makes him the fourth person to enter the race for the agency's highest office, a contest that is shaping up to be more crowded than usual.

Sadikin's nomination is seen as a somewhat unconventional move. He is not a medical doctor by training, which has been the traditional background for most WHO leaders in the past.
