A new facility dedicated to young people facing mental health challenges is now open in Hendersonville. The Adolescent Behavioral Health Center held its official celebration this week, marking a significant expansion of services for families in Western North Carolina.
The center is designed to provide a dedicated space for teenagers dealing with conditions like depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health issues. Hospital officials say the new unit addresses a growing need in the region, where access to specialized pediatric mental health care has often required long waits or travel to larger cities.
The facility includes private patient rooms, group therapy spaces, and a calming outdoor area. The design focuses on creating a supportive environment that feels less like a hospital and more like a place for healing. Staffing includes psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and social workers who specialize in adolescent care.
The center accepts patients on a referral basis and works with families to create individual treatment plans. Programs include individual therapy, group sessions, family involvement, and educational support to help teens continue their schooling during their stay.
Local leaders and healthcare providers attended the opening event, praising the hospital for filling a critical gap in the community. For many families in Henderson, Buncombe, and surrounding counties, this new resource means help is now closer to home.
The hospital plans to hold community information sessions in the coming months to help parents and schools understand how to access the new services. The center is now accepting patients.
