As of Saturday, health officials are investigating ten cases of suspected iatrogenic botulism linked to Botox injections at Rodrigo Beauty, situated at 464 Granite Ave. in Milton, Massachusetts. The Department of Public Health (DPH) has reported that these cases have raised significant concern among both patients and healthcare providers in the area.
Iatrogenic botulism is a rare but serious condition that can occur following the administration of botulinum toxin, commonly used for cosmetic procedures. Symptoms may include muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, and respiratory issues, which can become life-threatening if not addressed promptly.
The DPH is actively working to trace the source of the contamination and has urged anyone who received injections at the facility to seek medical attention if they experience any unusual symptoms. The investigation aims to ensure patient safety and prevent further incidents related to cosmetic procedures. Health officials are emphasizing the importance of receiving treatments from licensed and reputable practitioners to mitigate risks associated with such procedures.
